TikTok reaches 2 billion downloads during the pandemic
TikTok has exceeded 2 billion downloads on Wednesday. This was reported by the analysis company Sensor Tower which combined data from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store only five months after the app reached the target of 1.5 billion downloads.
There global pandemic who is forcing everyone to stay home in one way or another, is helping TikTok accelerate its growth because more and more people are looking for apps to keep themselves busy during the quarantine.
India is in front of everyone
Almost a third of TikTok downloads come from India while China holds about 9.7% of the share and the United States is in third place at 8.2%.
For those who have never opened TikTok, the new social network is mainly used by teenagers and young people. Users can publish videos up to 15 seconds long that are usually synchronized with music.
A matter of state
Since TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, the platform has recently come under greater scrutiny. And this is mainly due to its increase in popularity. The United States is always skeptical about any app of Chinese origin for a question of privacy and security so much to say that this app more than any other is a threat to national security.
